Electricity Saving Device 4 Electricity Saving Device
I find an energy saving device on the internet, is there anyone know if this really works?

What they say is, this device will save 10-20% of your electricity bill! Is this really works? www.ecotrustenergy.com/pureworld

Having read the specification, I would treat this device with suspicion.

It is superficially similar to a real, commercial technology that is widely adopted in UK and US, called demand-side voltage optimisation. This can reduce electricity usage by 15% or more in retail and industrial settings, perhaps a little less in office environments.

The company that markets technology to do this in the UK is Powerperfector (link to website below) but they use heavy duty transformers and control gear to achieve this. Despite the high capital cost, they offer finance that pays for the installation within 4 years out of the savings made on your electricity bill.

Scottish Power trialled the technology in around 1500 homes in 2006. As far as I can find out, they concluded that it worked well but the savings achieved in domestic settings would take too long to pay back the installation cost. Now that energy prices have doubled, it would be a good time to reassess the cost : benefit picture!
